Friday ... The... 13th!!

EEEKKKKKK!!! What a day. HA

I guess since this hasn't been the most glorious pregnancy; what a way to officially have Kolton born than on Friday the 13th! HA!!! That is as of yesterday's appointment. I go back on April 4th to have another appointment at which time we will officially mark it in the computer system and get a time for us to be there.

Knowing that it's just 2 weeks out.. it's worse than waiting on Christmas! HAHAHAHA.. I just want to hold, snuggle, smell and kiss him!!

It's funny as Chris' birthday is the 11th and he keeps telling me what he wants and I have been telling him that he's getting a baby instead.. looks like I was right all along. HA!

On a complete different note... BIG Brudder has been doing AWESOME on Potty Training!!! He's had a couple of accidents, but he is catching on and doing a really GREAT job of it!! YEAAAA I'm very proud of him. He only requires a diaper at night time.. whooo hoooo!!!

34 Weeks

Week 34.... just 3 weeks to go!! I am SO ready!! Just as long as we are both safe!

Fetal Development:
The baby responds as a newborn with its eyes open while awake and closed while sleeping. S/he is developing immunities to fight mild infection. Those sharp little fingernails are at the ends of the fingertips already, and you might need to clip them during the first few days after birth.

Maternal Changes:
You've probably felt some Braxton Hicks contractions for the past several weeks but they may intensify now. They are usually painless and non-rhythmical. These are preparing your body for the real thing.

Bed Rest

Nothing fun to post about.. I've been on bed rest since Friday. I was released to come back to work today which I'm here, but Kolton is not so happy about it. He has appeared to have dropped further into the canal and making mommy not only walk funny but HURT!

I have also re-developed pre-eclampsia. This has officially caused me to have my tubes tied (which they also cauterize now too). It's so important for me that I am here to watch both my boys grow. It has been scary for me to be at home these past few days and just wonder if I will be here. I'm holding tough and fighting back...as I REFUSE for it to get the better end of me.

My DR is watching the both of us very closely and watching my levels. If I continue to decrease, she will pull him earlier (within the next 2 weeks).. she's hoping that we'll both be able to hold out until around the 20th of April which will put more weight on him and ensure that his lungs are ready.

But feeling like I do today, I swear this kid is trying to come on his own. Good thing I'm sitting the Fire Channel at work, I can dispatch my own Rescue and Medical units to me. ;-D HA

I will keep you all posted.

Wednesday's Checkup

Wednesday I had my regular check up with the doctor. I had been sporting a killer headache since Monday, so I was glad to be going. As the doctor enters the room, I'm vomiting from the dizziness and the massive headache....

Off to Triage we went for pretty much the whole day. Got some meds; ran some tests including a 24 urine culture and more blood work on Thursday. Waiting on those results which I was advised the doctor is out until Monday, so not sure if her staff will call with the results or if I have to wait until she's back.

However, I have develeoped pre-eclampsia again. I have a milder case of it this time than when I did with Kyler. However it's also much sooner than I had it with him too. Results are that if my blood work starts showing that I'm decreasing more, she will pull Kolton within the next 2 weeks..but she is hoping to have me hang in there for the next 4 weeks which will put more weight and be less of a risk for him. She is watching both of us closely and I completely trust her.

If you're not familiar with pre-eclampsia; here's a littel tid bit from the website on it:

Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms. Typically, preeclampsia occurs after 20 weeks gestation (in the late 2nd or 3rd trimesters or middle to late pregnancy), though it can occur earlier. Proper prenatal care is essential to diagnose and manage preeclampsia. Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) and toxemia are outdated terms for preeclampsia. HELLP syndrome and eclampsia (seizures) are other variants of preeclampsia. Globally, preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. By conservative estimates, these disorders are responsible for 76,000 maternal and 500,000 infant deaths each year.

33 Weeks

Fetal Development: At this point, the amniotic fluid is at the highest level in the pregnancy. The amount will remain constant until delivery. Rapid brain growth has increased the baby's head size approximately 3/8 of an inch this week. Fat continues to accumulate which turns the baby's skin color from red to pink.

Maternal Changes:
You'll be gaining about a pound a week. Mild edema is normal but if you experience severe headache; seeing "spots" or "flashing lights" while at rest; sudden increase in swelling, such as over 2-3 days, especially of the face; abdominal pain; and nausea, vomiting, and feeling sick, contact your caregiver immediately. You could be developing pre-eclampsia which is characterized by swelling, high blood pressure and protein in the urine. It is a very serious complication of pregnancy.

Kolton's Baby Shower

Friday night Chris and I were cleaning house getting things ready for my Mom and Grandma to come over for the baby shower. Kyler wanted to help SOOO badly. He was cleaning the mirror but the picture moved behind him and scared him just as I was taking this picture:

Mom and Grandma came over earlier in the morning and helped prepare foods and what knots.

Here is a picture of my almost family of 4!:

At least Kyler smiled in this one.. boys (big and small) I tell you LOL:

Kyler was posing, he wanted his picture taken...he's such a big boy now!:

Uncle Kevin and Kyler helping prepare the party:

Aunt Sherry, Uncle Kevin and Daddy:

Us at the party:

Charleigh wanted in on the picture too.. LOVE HER!:

Aunt Sherry, Aunt Tamara and I trying to talk Kyler into helping Charleigh fill up the baby bottles with M&Ms:

Me greeting my Great Aunts:

Tina pinning Aunt Sherry's name tag:

The Awesome Plate that Dee gave and had everyone sign who attended:

Me and My Mommy who I THANK SO MUCH for all she did with this party for us:

BBugs joining in. She is too sweet and I LOVE this girl:

My Sis In Law Sherry:

I asked Kyler to put his hands down so I could see his name tag and Big Brother tags so instead he lifts his arms and turns.. HA!:

Charleigh and Kyler matched.. it was too sweet and they kept walking around holding hands:

Kolton showing off his name tag:

Charleigh loving on Grandma Great:

Grandma; Aunt Faustine and Aunt Claudette (Love these ladies):

This girl was SUPER Awesome at this game. Everyone got a "pacifier" (ring pop) tied to a string when they first arrived along with a name tag. If you said the word "baby" and someone else caught you, you had to give up your pacifier. Charleigh was on it... I actually think she deserved more than she is shown wearing, she was on the ball with it! But she won the game, hands down!:

The super Awesome cake that Aunt Sherry had specially made for us. It was DE-LI-CI-OUS and just as adorable... was hard to cut into, but boy I'm glad we did!:

There were different "hidden" designs around the cake.. this side was a teddy bear, the top had an airplane and I forgot what the other two sides had:

And since the party was on St. Patty's Day, the cake decorator added a little touch and died the vanilla green!! It was AWESOME! I'm not a big fan of chocolate cake as it's always dry. This cake was super moist and had the most amazing coconuty / vanilla flavor to it!.. Wait, I think we need another one just to make sure it was that awesome!!:

Dee with Super Duper Help from Sam (THANK YOU GIRLS FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK) made baby rattles out of rice crispy treats. My Mom, Grandma, Dee, Sam and Sherry all did an Amazing job on the party. I had a great time and people are still talking about it!:

As we were leaving, Nicholas was climbing on the poles and Kyler took note. Monkey See Monkey Do. He had a little help from his spotter (Daddy) getting up but once he was up there, he did NOT want him to hold on:

Kolton got an area rug one of his presents. His room SO needed this!! It's super soft and I can see us spending a lot of time crawling and playing on the floor:

Kyler didn't take a nap all day, but later that night when we were home, he laid down next to Kady on her bed. It was too cute!

Oh My Fruit Loop

As much as I would love to post a picture with this blog; I sadly cannot do so... Here's why:

Kyler is learning colors at school (which I LOVE!!). He is doing SO well with it too. I've been posting pictures of his art projects that he's been coming home with as I cherish them. However today, they took yarn and added Fruit Loops in the colors of the rainbow. Kyler was wearing his when Chris picked him up. They went to the store and when Chris went to get him out of the car seat, noticed his necklace was gone.

bet you can guess.... HA!

Chris asked Kyler what happened to his necklace and Kyler's response: "Ky Ky ate Fruit Loop"! They both were telling me about it tonight at dinner and it was SO cute how Kyler was saying it. He even did the "yummmm".

Love That Kid!!!!

Mother Seeking Advice

As my readers know, I am a mother to a toddler who will sadly (against my will HA!) soon be turning 3 and we will also very excitedly soon be welcoming a newborn.

My toddler is still undergoing potty training. He is doing very good on the peeing part. The pooping, not so much. And when we go out in public, he has to have a diaper on as he will not let us know he has to go. We are on the go a lot which means, he's back in the diapers.

I'm starting to feel like a failure and especially when I hear (on more than one occassion).. "all 4 of my kids were potty trained by 18 months". I didn't think that I had let this bother me, but apparently it has.

With that said; does anyone have any "encouraging" advice to offer that might help us in getting this potty trained business down? I would LOVE to have Kyler completely potty trained before Kolton comes as I know he's going to fall back some when Kolton is born.

I have tried the sticker method (every time he goes, he gets a sticker); however he has been given sticker books for different things and this no longer has meaning. We have tried the M&Ms and that he only gets them when he goes on the potty; but even that now doesn't have any meaning. We purchased new big boy underwear and even let him pick out which ones he wanted. He would even chant with me "no pee-pee or poo-poo in Mater". I understand he is going to have accidents and I'm ok with that. But I need to know what I'm apparently doing wrong.

After this post you can leave comments. You can log in using your email address; google account; etc or if you prefer, you can email me: sak_w14@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!

32 Weeks...and counting!

32 Weeks!!! Just 5 to go to our tentative new due date!!! Yesss I'm ready!!

Fetal Development: (and mom's comments):
The
baby is up to four pounds now (or LARGER if it's mine) and all five senses are functional. The toenails are completely formed and the hair on the head continues to grow (oh how the heartburn is telling me!).

Maternal Changes: (and mom's comments):
You may be visiting your care provider every two weeks at this point (yes, have another Ultrasound scheduled for next Wednesday to confirm how big he is and when our new Due Date will be). Your uterus is measuring about 5 inches above your navel and is pushing your organs every which way causing heartburn, constipation, indigestion and breathlessness (oh how this all is SO TRUE).
Drink lots of water and eat adequate fiber to ease the constipation and eat frequent small meals to help the heartburn and indigestion (BTW, NOTHING helps with the heartburn...even water gives me heartburn).

Ideas for Dad: (and mom's comments):
If you've chosen not to find out which gender your baby is, you may be trying to guess based on
Old Wives Tales. Or, your friends and relatives may be telling you what they think your baby is. Some of these theories can be really fun. For example, if Dad is more nervous, a daughter is on the way. (this is the Only one I can say might be true, because I'm having a boy and Chris is calm) If he's more relaxed, it's a boy. If Dad is getting lots of household projects done, a boy is coming. (Can't say that either ~ Chris has only put the crib together and helped me figure out the bassinets and things like that. Nothing out of the ordinary). If Dad isn't doing more projects, it's a girl. If Dad gains weight with Mom, it's a boy. (mom hasn't gained any.. in fact, mom is STILL under PrePreggos weight .. woop woop) If he stays the same weight-wise, it's a girl. (dad hasn't gained any and we're having a boy) So Dad? What's it gonna be?

Kyler's Art Work

I had picked Kyler up from school on Monday and his teacher was giving one of the other kids that was also being picked up a wind sock. Kyler had missed Friday from being out due to having Conjunctivitis. So he didn't get to make one. He was SO upset!! So Miss Ashley told him that she would let him go into the office with her the next day and pick out his special colors to make his very own. He didn't understand and 3 stores later, he was still sad. He woke up the next morning talking about it too.

When I picked him up Tuesday afternoon.. this is what I got! ONE HAPPY BOY!! And his wind sock:

They also worked on some other fun things. They have been finger painting and he made waves.. or the Beach as he calls it:

And the sun. They are working on learning their colors and he is doing an AWESOME job of it!:

His rainbow:

When he got home, he wanted to "pank" some more. Luckily I just happen to have these trucks on hand that I bought a week ago and he's been eyeballing them. We stripped him down and let him "pank" (how he says paint):

He was serious about it too:

Here is his "tie died" truck:

And the matching car:

He was SO proud of his art work, so I placed them in his room on the shelf.

Chris had to go to town to get some things for work, so Kyler and I got ready to go with. Kyler runs into his bathroom and comes out dressed like this! I'm so proud that even no socks, he at least got his boots on the right feet!:

Big Brother / Little Brother

I've been trying to find a Big Brother shirt for Kyler to wear to the baby shower next weekend. I haven't been successful. I did go online and buy one for him and a matching one for Kolton... but that is for the day of Kolton's birth. So it's reserved. Plus its a white shirt and since the shower is at a park, I could see it not being so white afterwards. HA!

So a girlfriend of mine and I were out shopping the other day and we found these iron on matching Big Brother / Little Brother "stickers"....and the idea was born! We found the onesie for Kolton but couldn't find a matching (or anywhere near close) green shirt for Kyler. I remembered that he had this brown shirt in the closet and hasn't even worn it. My kid looks great in brown, so I'm not sure why he hasn't. Anyways, the tires on the Bug are brown and if he gets the shirt dirty you wont be able to see it as much, so I thought it was Perfect. And since the "sticker" is green, it'll be perfect to wear to the Baby Shower on St Patty's Day (two birds, one stone)!

And yes Kolton got in on this picture ~~ he's kind of hard to hide right now HA~ Daddy sure is proud because both shirts have a green VW Bug on them. Boys and their toys.. HA!:

Big Brother's shirt:

Little Brother's Shirt:

I'm just a little scared he might not fit:

Zachary and Nikkisus (Nicholas) got gerbils a few weeks ago. The first time Kyler saw them HE. SQUEALED!!! He is warming up to them. But I love this picture of Aunt Sherry because she is laughing SO hard at Kyler who is screaming like a girl over the "rats".

He is getting better, he wanted to pet it and Aunt Sherry was trying to let him hold it:

She got the smaller one out and he was ok with that. He's holding this one with her help:

Color Week Plus

This week at Kyler's school has been color week. They were supposed to wear the color of that day. Kyler wore 2 out of the 4.. and he wasn't there on Friday.

Monday was Red Day.. I didn't know about color week until Monday night, so he didn't wear red. But he did come home with :

Tuesday was Orange Day.. I'm not sure what they were making or just exploring with finger paints:

Wednesday was Yellow Day. They made Fire Flies using their thumbs:

Thursday was Green Day.. and Aunt Sherry put in a request for whatever Green Day made as she needed some color added to her fridge. He gave her:

Friday was Blue Day. Kyler woke up with goopy eyes matted shut. I immediately thought Pink Eye, so I took him took him to the Dr instead of school. Dr confirmed he had pink eye and a sinus infection. Here is my Boo Bear feeling blue and wearing blue to support Color Week:

Just a few hours after getting the first dose of meds in him.. this is what happened:

His feet grew!!

He was feeling like himself again!:

My nephew Nikkisus (as Kyler calls him) (AKA Nicholas) mocking me. He did a pretty good job of it too:

Kolton's new onesie.. Love it.. and soo true:
