Our family started our "annual islanders" week last year. My aunt and her family (minus Rachel) flew in to meet up with my mom, grandma, Kyler and me last year at Anna Maria Island.
We had so much fun and really enjoyed it (rain and all), that we booked it again for this year. And are now talking about when to book it for next year. So with that said, it will officially become our "Annual Islanders Week"
Kyler and Daddy were actually having a snoring contest here and I thought it was so sweet that Kyler was snuggling Daddy in his sleep.
Boys having "brother bond time" before getting dressed and starting our mini-vacation:
Kyler, Kolton and I went up early and surprised Gramma at work. She had no idea we were coming. But I figured it's been a month since her work family got to see the boys and I know she was chomping at the bit to see them herself, so what a better way than to sneak in. She loved it! We left from there and went to meet up with Aunt Sandy for lunch at Red Lobster before going and checking in at the condo.
After checking in we went to scope out the rooms. This one is Kolton, Kyler, Gramma's and mine. Aunt Sandy getting some snuggle boys time:
Mommy's turn (Kolton was a very hungry lil boy and didn't want to have picture time done) And I look MASSIVE here and almost didn't post, but it's memories with my boys and I know the weight is coming off, so why not:
While waiting on Gramma and Grandma Great to join our party, we hit the beach -- no time to waste ;-D
This was possibly a big sand castle prior to the 10 minute rain we got just before hitting the beach. That's the only time it rained while we were there. But we did have seaweed along the whole beach front. Kyler decided to sit down and start building his own sand castle:
When the Grandmas got there; Grandma Great immediately wanted her boy ;-D I love the bond these two have already!
PURE HEAVEN:
Best Beach Buddies:
Jumping "the big one" (catching waves):
Chasing birds:
Night swim (catching sharks):
I LOVE the bond these two have:
Picture says it all (I'm missing it like crazy today):
The next day, "our beach front property":
Grandma Great and her "sunbathing" beach buddy:
Kolton having his mid-morning milk beach front:
They tan together; they nap together:
We were suddenly inundated by a swarm of people as we heard "ready, set, GO!". A large family reunion turned "sandy" as five groups of 3 hit the ground making sandcastles in a competition. They had 1 hour to complete their sculptures.
Mickey Mouse won..although the other family members thought they should have been disqualified since it wasn't built up. Our family was right next to this and we were asked to be a judge. Kyler of course thought Mickey was IT! That is seaweed used to darken his features in:
This octopus was pretty neat. He at one time was holding a Coors Light:
There was a really neat "mer-man". They used their 3rd partner and buried him. He was also drinking a beer (fun crowd to hang with ;-D ) and they built the mermaid tail / fin and gave him boobs with a females top. It was really cute and I wanted to take a picture, but not knowing them, I respected them and didn't.
This was a dragon / sea creature swimming in and out of the water. He had 3 orange ping pong eyes, a celery stick for a tongue and was eating a pickle and seaweed:
This is a star fish. Not sure why it doesn't show up good. It too was neat. He has a 3D face which is pretty much all you can see in this picture:
We ended up taking a walk on the beach and came across another sand castle. Here is the 2012 Family (minus mom taking the picture):
Kyler and Gramma getting in the 2012 Family picture time:
Kolton and Gramma having some bonding beach time. The waves would come right up to them. He would kick his feet and loved it:
Close up:
Gramma burring Kyler's leg:
"Toes in the water, feet in the sand"...(OK so I changed the lyrics on one word ;-D).. my boys and me taking a walk making memories:
"I'm gonna soak up the sun" (it must be lyrics day for me or something):
Pool time.. what a rough life.. sleeping in a boat in nice warm water while someone 'totes' you around. HA!:
"SpiderKy Yee-haw" on the look for his next victim of the water gun:
Brother hanging out time before getting ready for dinner:
Kyler's turn to give them to Kolton:
You would think he was getting them and not giving them. That's him laughing..hard.. Priceless:
Kolton thinks it's funny too:
This is day 2 of sleeping in and waking up at 6:30 AM. Not sure if he liked the beach...what do you think?:
Snuggle time with my boys..we had a late night our last night and were trying to be quiet for the others sleeping, so Spiderman went on:
Oh I love this lil guy, I think I could snuggle him ALL day:
SpiderKy being silly. I said "look at me with your eyes" (cause he had his face looking at me but his eyes were looking to the left).. and this is what he gives me. Needless to say...the tickle monster found SpiderKy's ribs right after this and he wasn't expecting it (bet you heard that squeal of laughter from your house):
"Tolky Monster" has been gnawing on my arm and "chewing" on anything and everything he can get his mouth on. So I checked and yep, his gums are thinning out and white where there are toofers soon to appear:
He had a BLAST with his new teether. He tore into this green thing like it was steak flavored:
The bee's wings were a close 2nd of lobster flavored:
Bassinet Bye-Bye. Sadly, this was Kolton's last nap in his bassinet as you can see, he has to keep his legs bent as he's too long legged for it. He now sleeps in the port-a-crib still right next to me. Personally I think he likes it better, he can roll and squirm all over now..and he sleeps longer too:
